Denise James

Dance
Denise is a classically trained dancer, having studied with Baton Rouge Ballet, North Carolina School of the Arts, Eglevski Ballet, and Houston Ballet.  She has also studied in Los Angeles, California on scholarship with the Tremaine Dance Center as well as numerous other professional dance programs from California to New York City. Denise has a diverse performance background, including her four years as a member, captain, and choreographer for the LSU Golden Girls.  Prior to Regents, she has taught all ages and levels of dance both in private studio and high school school settings. Denise and her husband, Chris, met while they both were living in New York City and attending Redeemer Presbyterian. They are blessed to have two children who are Regents students, 3rd grader, Grayson, and Kindergartener, Bethany Rose.

Denise loves teaching dance and sharing her lifelong passion for the art.  Her teaching and choreography style is most influenced by her background, studying and performing with classical ballet companies.  The beautiful lines and storytelling within ballets, such as Giselle, Firebird, and Sleeping Beauty, as well as endless Broadway musical theater productions, have been very influential in her choreography style. But she is most inspired by music – of all genres (she especially loves and is moved by the theatrics of string orchestras!).
